Things have been shaky in and around town since this happened . We do not have armed police here but i'm afraid living so close to the cities of Liverpool and Manchester it is now only to be expected. Everyone in the surrounding area has been told to stay indoors .

Stay safe, dear. *hugs you*

I am safely in my home and the package that he was carrying has been taken away now for analysis.

That's good news.
I'm currently analysing your icon. It's an altogether nicer package, don't you think? :-)

It's a beautiful package I agree . Thanks for the hugs and sending them back to you .

It's so sad to see this on the streets again after we thought we'd have peace.

As always, my thoughts are with the victims and my hopes are for an end to the violence.

Stay safe x

Thankyou and to be honest i don't think there will ever be peace , not in my life time. It's frightening now that more details are emerging and to know it's right on your doorstep also.

Funnily enough, I was just saying to my friend how this doesn't seem as scary as the IRA - probably because you're not reminded of it every day.

No bag searches, bomb drills, shops suddenly being evacuated - all the constant precautions and vigilance.

But maybe it will get more like that now.

But I've come to the same sad conclusion - the bombs have always been there and I can't imagine them not being.

And yes - when the IRA were active, I knew there were sympathisers and supporters in my neighbourhood - knowing these people are so close is horrible.

I just take comfort in the fact that many, many more people - even those who might have sympathy with the politics - don't agree with the terrorism.

The best thing we can all do is keep the victims and their devastated loved ones in our thoughts and go about our business as usual - in the end the bombs are a sign of weakness and carrying on, a sign of strength.

We're not going to stop being 'us' because of them.

Well stated ..yes life has to go on as usual but I'm afraid the terror threat will never go away .

Glad to hear that you are safe. Hugs.

I saw them mention your town, and I was thinking, 'that can't be Alison's town..."

*Please* be careful and safe, and remember we're thinking about you.

Yes this all happened yesterday afternoon and this man was swooped upon by plain clothes police closely followed by armed Police officers . He is thought to be part of a terrorist cell that is operating right across our area and it's frightening to know that is has landedd on my own doorstep..,Thankyou .

Wow. It's intense :(
May. 25th, 2017 07:53 am (UTC)
yes it was and new details are emerging all the time . This man was part of a terrorist cell that is working across our area and it's frightening to know that it is happening on our doorstep.

My heart goes out to everyone in Manchester and the UK.
May. 25th, 2017 11:24 am (UTC)
Thankyou. It's frightening to know how close this threat is and the man they arrested yesterday was part of that terrorist cell.

Stay safe but don't let your guard down. We shouldn't ever. We live in difficult times. These murderous psycopaths could be living among us, really. I don't feel particularly reassured whenever I hear the police or secret services knew certain people were in danger of becoming radicalized, but did nothing or could do nothing about it.
As much as I'll always be pro-civil liberties, sometimes, I think, when suspicions are high the police should be given more power to stop and search, do thorough checks etc. I don't know. I feel so powerless and angry that, like in France, Belgium, Germany etc. recently, a terrorist was free to murder innocent people despite being on a supposed 'watch list'.
It's becoming more difficult to go to crowded places,to feel safe in concert halls, sports venues, shopping centres, train stations etc. I know we shouldn't change our daily habits because of this, but you also want to minimise the risk of another atrocity happening. It's a tough call. We certainly need to be more vigilant.
Take care :) x

exactly , these terrorists are on watch lists and yet nothing is being done to stop them (if you get what i mean) currently there is a house search underway in the town so obviously this man who was arrested yesterday was living amongst us .

I am safe atleast for now but it's getting frighteningly close and yesterday the man's house was seached and yes there were explosives found inside so that just shows how close the terrorists are . He was part of a terrorist cell that has been working throughout the north west .

I saw the footage online just now - so very, very worrying. They have put an increased police presence on the trains, too :-/
May. 26th, 2017 02:28 pm (UTC)
yes. I only have to walk past the train station that takes you to Manchester and there are armed Police patrolling the outside. I think that this kind of living will be around for some time to come.

My heart is breaking for you all. I'm so glad that you're safe but it's terrifying that this is your home and especially since it sounds like they were deliberately targeting women and girls. Sending you lots of good thoughts.
