national memorial arboretum

it's been a truly wonderful , emotional and somewhat perfect kind of day with the sun shining throughout . Lewis's plaque is situated in the most perfect setting with the river Tame running along the side of it . I really thought the tears would begin to flow but far from it , it's so peaceful and humbling and i knew when i was walking away that i had to turn around and go back for a second viewing . I'm so pleased that i have had the chance to view it .

You know I love your posts, but I think this is the best picture.

I'm so glad there is somewhere in this country to remember him - and this is the first time I've seen the actual plaque.

How lovely that Bodie is on it.

And what a perfect place for it to be. Reminding everyone that in many ways Bodie was the least of his achievements.

Thank you, especially, for this post.

What a beautiful post. I love what you said and the pics to go with it. I'm so glad it was the perfect day for you and that the sun was shining. It looks like the kind of place and setting that inspires peace and reflection, but not necessarily sadness. And well, I know the feeling, having to turn back for a second viewing... ☺.
Thank you xx

Ah, today was the day of your visit! So pleased that the sun was shining for you, it's been sadly absent on my two visits.

It is a wonderfully peaceful spot, isn't it, and a very fitting place for our Lew to be remembered.
