Thank you!

I'm just trying to imagine being sat in a library and then these two pop in *g*. Thankyou so much for looking and for your comment.

I was thinking last night that your pictures are like looking through a newly cleaned window for the first time and seeing things clearly after years of looking through grime and thinking you can see things clearly. This one is another stunner. Thank you!

That's such a good analogy!

(Although, I will always have a soft spot for the grimy view...and strawberry mivvis and bluetits nicking the cream from the milk and Jubilees where it's actually sunny and everything priced in New Pence...still t'internet and mobiles are quite handy too :0))

Aaah so you prefer your pictures to be of the older type, that's very interesting and could I ask what is a strawberry mivvis.

It's less of a preference and more of nostalgic soft spot. British TV has always been HD for its era, but technologies move on and what is actually HD now wasn't available back then.

When Pros first aired television was still a cathode ray affair https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathode_ray_tube. Although increasingly less common, people were still watching in black and white. There was quite a differential in the price of the license. The older DVDs just look more like the old programming to me.

But the new pics are stunning. Best of both worlds :0)

A mivvi is a type of ice lolly - still available - but very common in the seventies http://www.doyouremember.co.uk/memory/mivvi-ice-creams

thanks for the insight , it'good to get know other people's preferences. I was eight years old in 1977 when the professionals first aired and just about remember what tv was like back then but thank goodness for blu ray and ultra hdtv .

Thanks for letting me know what a strawberry mivvi was , i had never heard of one .

I'm a bit sad about the inner workings of seventies TVs - I used to stand memorised by the TV repair man (they broke more often then, it was worth the effort of repairing them, so people hung on to them - bit like cars now). I'm aware not everyone else shares my interest...

hey each to their own that's what i always say . I remember the chunky buttons and the teak wood surround ..omg and yeah if they broke down the tv repair man would make a call , now a days they just scrap them and buy a new one ..ha ha.

All this is calling to mind the picture of Bodie with that stereo :0)

Pretty much, a bit like the fab and the rocket - many imitators...I love a good lolly!

Thank you! I wouldn't want to live in the past (in pre-pain killer days), but there are some things about modernity that I can happily live without! e.g. modern forms of noise.

What a wonderful comparison. I agree very much!

I love Bodie in civilised surroundings - it's like dressing a two year old in white and then giving them chocolate - you just know what's going to happen ...

I love him in his casual everyday business though usually that doesn't last very long , there is always trouble to be had. Thankyou so much for looking at this .
Apr. 11th, 2016 11:17 am (UTC)

I feel quite sorry for him, he's obviously house trained, but doesn't get much quiet time :0)
